That brings up some heavy questions for me. Is ‘marketing’ as we know it today, inherently bad? Or is there ‘bad marketing’ and ‘good marketing’?

Or is it all 'some antics'/semantics?

Yeah...this is the downside of marketing. Constructivist theory, the short version: The reality we construct in our mind inlfuences the reasoning and decisions we make that result in the behaviors we act out.

e.g. products are for my benefit, therefore this is good, and thus I buy. The more I buy, then the more good is done to my benefit (I threw in a dash of hedonistic, self-serving perspective to round out basic consumerism).

It's a sad story. But, hey, Satan has the wool pulled over our eyes.

If business is man's religion, then marketing is the worship leader...ponder the implications on that one!
